Speaker:Professor Chen Lei
Professor Chen Lei is currently Chair Professor of International Arbitration and Chinese Law at Durham University, UK, where he also serves as Deputy Dean of the Law School and Director of the Institute of International Dispute Resolution. He is a Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, an Honorary Fellow of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL), and a Senior Member of the European Law Institute (ELI).
Professor Chen is a member of the International Commercial Expert Committee of the Supreme People's Court of China. He also holds honorary and visiting positions at several institutions, including Honorary Professor at the University of Galway (Ireland), Visiting Professor at City University of Hong Kong, Distinguished Visiting Professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Chair Professor (Part-time) at Shandong University.
His academic expertise spans civil law, private international law, investment dispute settlement, and international commercial arbitration, in which he has produced outstanding scholarly work.
Professor Chen serves as an arbitrator at numerous arbitration institutions, including the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Beijing Arbitration Commission, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), ICC International Court of Arbitration, London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC, Kuala Lumpur), and Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC). He is also an expert mediator at the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) and a specialist member of the Global LegalTech & Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) Innovation Platform.
